Bernhard A. Votteri, M.D.
Dr.
Votteri graduated from the School of Medicine at the University
of California, San Francisco. He completed his internship and
residency in Internal Medicine at UC Irvine Medical Center, and
then undertook his fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at Wadsworth
Hospital, Veterans Administration Center in Los Angeles, California.
He became Director of Inhalation Therapy at UC Irvine Medical
Center, and later came to Sequoia Hospital to become the Medical
Director of the Intensive Care Unit and Pulmonary Services. In
the early 1980s Dr. Votteri recognized the growing importance
of sleep medicine and the enormous impact of sleep disordered
breathing. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Sequoia
Hospital Sleep Disorders Center, which is accredited by the American
Academy of Sleep Medicine. He became co-director of the sleep
center in 1983. Dr. Votteri also spends many hours per year giving
lectures and teaching medical students in the office. He is a
Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF.
